We not only celebrate Pastor Franz’s time at Messiah but the fact that\, as of this year\, he is retiring with an impressive 45 years of ordained ministry and service to the wider church! \nDuring our regular 10:30am worship service\, Bishop Erik Gronberg will preside over a special rite of thanksgiving at the conclusion of a pastoral call. DESCRIPTION:The 2025 National Day of Racial Healing (NDORH) will be held on Tuesday\, Jan. 21. It is an annual observance that follows Martin Luther King Jr. Day.\nThis year\, the ELCA\, in partnership with Augsburg Fortress\, will join the movement of racial healing for our church and the nation. On Jan. 21\, 2025\, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Central time\, the ELCA will feature a free online educational event that centers the voices of ELCA leaders of color. We invite you to join us in this collective effort for a more just and equitable world. This event is open to all ELCA rostered ministers\, lay leaders and members. DESCRIPTION:More than 40% of U.S. households struggle to afford essential needs\, pushing them to make difficult decisions and take significant risks every day.\nThe Cost of Poverty Experience is a 2.5 hour simulation that explores the lived experience of poverty firsthand through the eyes of real families. The experiential nature of this training helps organizations and communities more deeply understand the human and systemic impacts of poverty.  \nFor years\, many top down or well-intentioned approaches to poverty have left out the wisdom and leadership of those closest to the challenges. Created with the input of individuals with personal experience in poverty\, COPE sheds light on these challenges and catalyzes meaningful dialogue and action.
